urbanrock.net broke the news about a month ago that the Bhimnation president, Stonebwoy was billed to perform at an international Dancehall festival in the United States.
Dubbed, The Best of the Best music festival, the Miami held event, also featured a host of star-studded Reggae and Dancehall artists such as Mavado, Aidonia, and legendary performer Capelton.
Not only was Stonebwoy there representing Ghana, he was the only African artist billed to perform.
The show, which is the 12th edition of annual music festival, came off this weekend at the Bayfront Park in Miami.
While many are congratulating the Bawasaaba hitmaker for the new height achieved in his career, a video which is circulating on social media, sighted by urbanrock.net seems to suggest that Stonebwoy’s performance was a flop.
The over 1-minute long video shows the BET Awards winner performing his hit songs to a crowd who frankly seem unbothered.
From a Ghanaian point of view, the video is painful to watch. Apart from Sarkodie, Stonebwoy is supposed to be the other widely known artist representing Ghana to the rest of the world and to see such a lackluster response from the crowd is disheartening.
This does not take anything away from the giant strides Stonebwoy is making this year though. He is definitely putting Ghana on the map. Beyond the Miami show, he has also been booked to showcase his act on several other international shows this year.
We wish him all the best.
