Sometimes I feel Ghanaians forget my ‘landmark’ achievements – Tic

Hiplife legend Tic, formerly known as Tic Tac seems to be in his ‘feelings’ lately as he has mentioned that Ghanaians appear to have taken him off their minds.

Tic rose to stardom in the early ’90s in the Era of Woy3bia which he was featured by Dj Azigiza Jnr.

Though many thought his amazing delivery on the song was a fluke, the young chap together with Slim Buster released a big banger, Masan Aba to the surprise of many.

As if it was not enough, the teenager with an exceptional rap style, released a classic song christened “Philomena”, which took the whole country by storm.

Since then he collaborated with top artistes like Tony Tetuila and Freddie Meiway as well as many others.

The invasion continued to Europe and USA, as well as hit the world chart with Kangaroo, with its video directed by Gil Green, one of the best directors in the world.

According to him, in Ghana, when you become known as an artiste, you go through different stages of popularity and then you fade away like nothing ever happened.

“In Ghana, here once you make a hit you become a star, then a super star, a celebrity and then a legend. After that you drop just like that and then someone takes over.”

Tic expressed his displeasure about how some of his colleagues in the music fraternity have not taken up the mantle of portraying pure Ghanaian music.

In his words, “Sometimes I feel they forget the landmark achievements that I have achieved for our country. Sometimes I feel not just Ghanaians but the people in the profession themselves. Like us writers who are supposed to tell a story of what Ghanaian music is. I feel has let us down.”

Speaking at a press confab to officially announce his ‘IamTic Concert’, the ‘Kwani Kwani’ crooner was certain that after the concert, people will have a different perception about him.

He added that as an artiste, with 27 years experience and one who has had a great history in Ghana music, he said, “At the moment you know I have one of the biggest hit in the country. You can’t go without mentioning the top three or top five songs and not mention my quote. That alone makes me feel very happy and I know that you guys will not forget me this time around.”

IamTic Concert has been scheduled for December 21 at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
