7-year-old Ugandan rapper, Patrick Sseyonjo who is famously known as Fresh Kid has been threatened with jail if he doesn’t quit doing music.
The talented lad was threatened by Uganda’s Minister of Youth Affairs, Florence Nakiwala.
The Minister in an interview with BBC disclosed that she will be forced to take Fresh Kid to Juvenile prison if the 7-year-old doesn’t quit music.
Her warning comes after the rapper was accused of not attending school due to his music career as he mostly skips class to perform late in the night at events.
“The constitution clearly states that no one under the age of 18 is allowed to work therefore Fresh kid should not be working rather be in school. Anyone found aiding his music career will have to face the law as well,” she said.
Reacting to the Minister’s threat, the manager of Fresh Kid has refuted claims that his artiste skips school.
According to Fresh Kid’s manager, Francis Kamonga, the rapper only performs on weekends.
He added that the talented rapper is not even paid for his performances and cannot say he is working.
“I discovered him in a rural village miming some songs, brought him to the city and started paying his school fees,” Fresh Kid’s manager explained.
